Hawaiian massage, also called lomi lomi nui massage, is a wonderful way to stimulate and relax muscles. This form of sacred bodily labor comes primarily from the spiritual traditions of the original Hawaiians of Polynesia. These traditions prior to Western colonization treated the body and mind through the native Huna philosophy, forming part of a rite of initiation practiced exclusively in temples or "Heiau".
Lomi Lomi relaxes the nervous system, increases circulation and creates a tangible sense of well-being. It is useful for maintaining health, and for relieving pain from debilitating injuries and illnesses. It is sometimes called the "massage dance", and it is so wonderful to give as to receive.
